Wilhelmina obtained a BSc (honors) in environmental Biology and Geography in 2015 andMaster of Arts in Geography and Environmental studies in 2018 from the University of Namibia. She is currently conducting her PhD at DITSL.

From 2015 to 2017 she worked as a researcher for the Southern Africa Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management to determine the effect of bush clearing on the efflux of carbon dioxide from the soil. In 2018 she volunteered at the United Nations Development Program in Namibia were she was assisting in drafting proposals and concept notes for upcoming projects and Monitoring and Evaluation of the program supported projects. In 2019 she was involved in the Land Degradation Neutrality project on determining local land use, land cover and vegetation structure and composition in Northern Namibia. From 2020 to 2021 she worked for the Namibia Statistics Agency as a field employee for the Census Mapping project.

Wilhelmina’s research interests is on livestock production systems, pastoral land use systems, communal areas grazing resource management, human-animal-environment interactions and climate change adaptation.

She is pursuing her PhD with DITSL on the (Post)-colonial livestock breeding in Namibia: Historical, socio-ecological and genetictransformations project. She is interested in understanding different production logics and human-animal-environment interactions in mobile and stationary pastoral livestock systems in Namibia.
