Training

Eva studied agricultural sciences at the Humboldt University of Berlin (Bsc) and acquired a Master of Science on ‘Sustainable International Agriculture’ from the Universities of Göttingen and Kassel in 2014. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (University of Hohenheim) at DITSL.

Career

Between 2015 and 2018, Eva worked in development projects of governmental as well as non-governmental organisations, mainly in the countries of implementation, but also in the head quarters of the organisations in Germany and Switzerland. The projects focussed on the enhancement of agriculture, nutrition & food security, resilience, and included emergency aid, WASH, migration and reconstruction.

Research

Eva’s research interests include transdisciplinary approaches that aim to increase resilience and sustainability of agricultural systems through inclusion of actors and the ecosystem concerned. She is curious to understand processes of change, emergence and adoption of social and technical innovation as well as collaboration among actors. In her PhD thesis, Eva collaboratively with Kenyan smallholder farmers learns about social and technical innovation for their agricultural and water management. Through her work, Eva hopes to better connect science & practice, research & development.

Experience abroad

Eva collected experience in research and development projects in Kenya and South Sudan as well as shorter stays in Nepal, Uganda, Malawi, Northern Iraq (KRI).
